Fallingwater or Kaufmann Residence : The Beautiful Landscape Location

Fallingwater or Kaufmann Residence is a house designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935, 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The home was built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains.

The house was designed as a private residence and weekend home for the family of Pittsburgh department store owner, Edgar J. Kaufmann.

The house became instantly famous when it was featured on the cover of Time magazine in 1938. Since then it has become recognised as an icon of modern architecture.

Fallingwater is open to the public as a museum in 1964 and surrounded by 5,100 acres of natural land known as the Bear Run Nature Reserve. Over 5.7 million people touring the Kaufmann’s weekend retreat annually.

It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on July 10, 2019. 

In addition, Fallingwater is designated as a National Historic Landmark and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Treasure.

The total Construction cost is $155,000, is equivalent to about $2.8 million in 2019.
